From the searing glare of daylight, steeped in sun,
We hide our heads in slumber, dreaming dreams,
The perils of our journey just begun;
For in dreaming, nothing’s ever what it seems.
We hide our heads in slumber, dreaming dreams,
Hoping dreams will stay when sleeping’s done.
But in dreaming, nothing’s ever as it seems—
Iron castles turn to vapor in the sun.
Hoping dreams will stay when sleeping’s done,
We turn our eyes away from daylight’s fire.
Iron castles turn to vapor in the sun;
We give ourselves to daydreams just as dire.
We turn our eyes away from daylight’s fire,
Thinking we can somehow stifle time.
We give ourselves to daydreams just as dire
As reason crumbles, making way for rhyme.
Thinking we can somehow stifle time,
In our waking, we are sleeping, still.
As reason crumbles, making way for rhyme;
Lost in dreams, and nothing else, until
In our waking, we are sleeping, still.
The time has come to rise up with the sun.
Lost in dreams, and nothing else, until
We wake to life, our journey half begun.
The time has come to rise up with the sun;
Tear the purple scales of evening from our eyes.
We wake to life, our journey half begun.
There’s more dreaming in our waking than we realize.
Tear the purple scales of evening from our eyes.
We wake to life, our journey half begun.
There is dreaming in our waking—this we realize
In the searing glare of daylight, steeped in sun.

A complicated poetic form, but I think I got it!
Lovely, Little one!
Well, that’s pretty awesome. I love how the pictures flow in and out with the lines, mixing with different ideas to move the plot along. I shall have to try one of these.
Lovely! Those are hard to write!
I loved it. Loved it. I wish there was a “Love” button up there beside the “Like” button. It’s such a pity that we always seem to have to wake up right when “The perils of our journey just begun.”
“Iron castles turn to vapor in the sun.” That’s my favorite line.
Like a bridge over troubled water ……
That was awesome. And the ending cracked me up. But you do capture a feeling with words.
