A Friday night is a magnificent invention. They are perfect for two things: partying and relaxing, if only a little.
At Undisclosed University, Friday nights are not necessarily peaceful—at least, not until 10:30, when we all have to be back in our dorms. Eleven o’clock is the witching hour, as it were, when we can chose to party in each other’s rooms, or doing what I and a friend are doing right now—sharing a peaceful silence.
I won’t bore you with the details of my day because I promised that I would try to put less of that baggage on the internet. I will say, however, that I can list well over two hundred days that were a lot better than this one. And if there’s one thing I need more than anything else right now, it’s silence.
Tonight, I will choose to be thankful. I will chose to be thankful for silence and caring friends and family. And for cookie cake, because it is yummy, and I had some tonight.
And for quiet, which is a gift in and of itself.
Goodnight, my dearest readers. May you have all the quiet you require tonight.
