Because I Said I Would

Standard

When you make a resolution,

It’s best you stay resolved,

Else there’ll be no real solution

To the riddle left unsolved.

When you say you will do something,

Do not leave that thing undone,

Or your life will fill with half-things—

Piles lyrics left unsung.

The trouble with a promise is

That sometimes it’s maintained

By half-baked Doubting Thomases

Who are tired and addle-brained.

So when you say you’ll write a blog post

Every day for the whole year,

Sometimes what the reader gets is compost—

Like this sad poem, I fear.
