Rejoice

Standard

Has your soul ever passed through a dark place?

I know it has. If you’re the sort of person who blogs, or reads blogs, or is old enough to have been hurt, your soul has passed through shadow.

You probably did not come out undamaged. You have little broken parts now. Cracks in the surface. Bruises. Deep scars.

We live in a fallen world, and not one of us is going to come out unscathed. It would be foolish to expect otherwise.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in 21 years (almost 22), it’s that shadows don’t stay. You leave the shadow, or the shadow leaves you—and then the light comes back.

After all, Master Frodo, “There’s light and beauty up there that no shadow can touch.”

When you come out—and you will come out—rejoice. You came through the shadow. You may have lost many valuable things along the way, but you have gained priceless treasures: wisdom, compassion, strength.

Bad things happen to good people if only to make them better people.

God’s purpose is perfect, and for your good. It may not make sense all at once. It probably won’t.

But believe me…once day, it will.
